Vanessa Sifontes is an Oncology Rehabilitation Specialist who has dedicated the bulk of her career to Head & Neck Cancer Rehabilitation with hands on intervention, as well as significant research within Oncology. Her career started at Baylor University where she graduated with a Masters Degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders. During her first rotation in Houston, TX she was exposed to the rehabilitation of oncology patients via a multimodal approach which she then adopted and improved. Highly trained in Myofascial release, trigger point therapy, lymphedema management, scar management, traditional Chinese Cupping Therapy and TMJ management. Vanessa is able to address patients’ needs with a well-rounded approach and unique skill set.
As a trained Burn Scar Massage Therapist (BSMT), she is qualified to handle full-body massage for 1-4 degree burns. This process promotes healing, releases scar bands to improve range of motion, improves blood circulation, decreases anxiety, and improves immunity by promoting lymphatic health among other benefits.
Vanessa's enthusiasm toward education, treatment, and contribution to development of protocols and strategies that maximize overall patient care is inspiring and contagious. Her passion for innovation, research and patient driven outcome is evident in every project she is involved in. In her spare time you can find her hiking with her service k-9 Kylo, rowing, mountain biking and often enjoying a good book.
